Gallery 5B: Ino Eiji
Eiji Ino was born in 1949. He was initially a painter and held many solo and group exhibitions between 1974 to 1986. After establishing the woodblock print studio Sonobashinogisha in 1988, he went on to publish a series of travelogues in limited editions, each containing about 10 scenic prints along with additional ex-libris and small decorative prints. Print titles usually parenthetically referenced the scenes location which appear to represent train stops in many cases. Small accompanying descriptions documented his experience upon reaching the site, various highlights of the location, as well as occasional artistic concerns regarding the composition of the rendered image. All prints were self drawn, self-cut, and self-printed by the artist.
